DEMETRIUS
In a time when hip hop and R&B have become prevalent to urban and pop radio listeners alike, emerges Demetrius to claim his spot. This southern crooner has created a style that joins the heart of the streets with soul music. Sexy, soothing and as smooth as ever, he proficiently delivers.

Born, Lamont Demetrius Richardson, in Monroe, NC his vocal gift was expressed in churches at an early age. One of nine children, he quickly learned to command the attention of a crowd. Following the success of fellow Charlotte natives Horace Brown & Jodeci , a teenage Demetrius along with three others, would form the group “Undacova”.

The group took the risks of stardom to New York and was heard by label reps from the Tommy Boy imprint. Much to their surprise they scored a deal and a song, “Love Slave”, on the New Jersey Drive soundtrack.

Unfortunately, the album was shelved due to circumstances beyond their control. Disgusted and disappointed the group parted ways. With quitting not being an option, Demetrius moved forward and formed the trio, “Deep South”. This time the music would delight the ears of producer Mark Sparks, who would launch the LA based label, SoulLife, would ink the trio to a deal. After a mediocre debut of Sunshine Anderson’s “Your Woman”, fellow native Anthony Hamilton was to be followed by the Deep South project. Much to their dismay neither project got off the ground.

Still chasing his dream and not giving up, Demetrius returned home to reproach and regroup from life in the industry. With the help of encouraging words from Angie Stone was just what he needed to launch his solo effort.  His newfound freedom allowed him to concentrate on his songwriting and live performances.

Adopting the stage name “D Rich”, he went on to perform at the Apollo Theatre and was nominated for the 2006 UMA best R&B solo male. After paying dues, he has found his comfort in the music industry and is poised toward stardom.

In 2008 Demetrius was signed to a strong and thriving record label known as I Got Records owned by former NFL Player and Pro Bowler, Sean Gilbert, who is a very driven and determined man in the music industry and wanting to make others dreams come true.

Demetrius is anticipating his new solo debut entitled “Who Is Lamont?”  Since signing on to I Got Records Demetrius has recorded songs that are bursting at the seams to be released. Titled V.I.P, Glamour Girl” and “Eye Candy”, these 3 songs are hot and ready to tackle the club scene with full force and with a strong label backing them to do so. These songs are hot, and waiting on the right time to represent exactly “Who Is Lamont?
